Portrait of Namusoboko Nelson

I build the backend systems products run on.

I'm Namusoboko Nelson, a backend engineer in Mbarara, Uganda. I design APIs, data pipelines and the infrastructure underneath them, and I care most about systems that stay simple, observable and dependable as they grow.

Selected work

A backend that collects market data from news, filings and social sources, ranks what matters, and serves structured research briefs with citations over a REST API. Sources and reports live in PostgreSQL.

Python · FastAPI · PostgreSQL · LangChain

A small Go service using only the standard library. It handles every message sent from this site, with per-IP rate limiting, spam filtering, request size limits, structured logs and graceful shutdown. Ships as a single binary in a distroless container.

Retrieval Pipeline

2026

An end-to-end retrieval (RAG) pipeline: structured document ingestion, embeddings stored in ChromaDB, multi-step routing in LangGraph, and the whole workflow served over HTTP with FastAPI.

Python · FastAPI · ChromaDB · LangGraph

Background

  • 2026 AI & ML intern, Kreative Campus Jun – Jul · Retrieval pipelines and FastAPI services
  • 2025 Engineering intern, BAIFAM Group Jun – Jul · Shipped features on a production codebase
  • Ongoing Software Engineering, MUST Mbarara University of Science and Technology

Writing on backend engineering and the systems I build is coming soon.
